Pleasant Hill is located just North of Walnut Creek, bordering Concord on the East, Martinez to the North and Lafayette to the West. It has a population of approximately 33,000. There is a downtown area with Century movie theater and abundant restaurants and shops on Contra Costa Blvd. and Boyd Rd.

There is a charter school in Concord, Clayton Valley Charter High School, which used to be part of the Mt. Diablo School District.
